Construction Restart at Lavenie Crown?

The Lavenie Crown was one of the many victims of Saigon’s real estate crunch. Slated to begin construction in 2012 on the site next to Diamond Plaza, the project came to a halt as the main investor, Kinh Do Corporation (yes, the bakery) pulled out, leaving the site to become a parking lot. But over the last few weeks, there has been a buzz of construction activity on the site. Has the project found a new investor?

Back in 2012, The Saigon Times profiled the building which included plans for 5 star hotels, high-end residential and retail:

"The project will be built on 4,900 square meters in a prime location near the city’s landmarks like the Notre Dame Cathedral and the French-built Post Office. The 36-storey building, which has total floor space of 66,000 square meters, is set for completion by 2014."

Investors at the time included Kinh Do Corporation (KDC), HCMC Housing Management & Trading Co. and Mayflower Investment Co.

This, of course, is all conjecture as information on the project (and most others) is hard to come by.
