Narrow The Gap: Increasing Access To Education In Vietnam

Founded to support local not-for-profit organizations, volunteers and donors to have an equal chance to contribute their time to improve ongoing social issues, Narrow the Gap Community Fund is LIN’s (Center for Community Development) new project to encourage broader public engagement in these activities.

Last year, Narrow the Gap collected over VND300 million to fund programs that support children’s issues in and around Ho Chi Minh City.

This year’s theme focuses on Education featuring following projects:

- “Alleviating the suffering of patients” – to improve the care of child patients by educating children and families.

- “Your understanding lightens our life” – to reduce the gap of understanding in the community about disabled children.

- “House of smiles” – to provide children with HIV/AIDS inclusion and chances for development.

- “Desire to integrate” – foster communication skills and art classes and raise awareness for the hearing impaired.

- “Bridge to education” – building 4 safe bridges for children in Thu Thua, Long An.

- “Enhancing education for migrant children.”

The online voting is open from 22/7 to 2/8/2014 and the Narrow the Gap event will take place on the 23 of August.
