From the organizer: Talk by Ikebana Instructor Auralynn Nguyen "An Immersion into the Avant-Garde Floral Art “Sogetsu”

Auralynn began studying Sogetsu Ikebana under Kaz Yokou Kitajima of the Los Angeles chapter in 2012 after being captivated by its idea of creating sculpture with nature, and its focus on merely the present. Since then she has studied abroad in Japan on numerous occasions under Takenaka Reiko and at the Sogetsu Headquarters in Tokyo. An active member of the Sogetsu Teachers Association, she regularly showcases her work at their annual exhibitions in various locations, primarily Los Angeles and Tokyo. As of 2016, she resides mostly in Vietnam in hopes of spreading the idea of “floral sculpture” to the region.
