Green Drinks December Event - Ethical Fashion @ Zest Bistro

The fashion industry has a tremendous negative impact on our environment. It uses a lot of water, pollutes soils and water through the culture of cotton and dyeing processes, and creates huge waste of clothes people throw away. These are some of the reasons making that industry the second most polluting one after the oil industry.

On another hand, the textile and fashion industry is often condemned for not respecting human rights, and for good reasons, as shown in several documentaries. Child labor and modern slavery allow some of the biggest players in the fashion world to make millions by selling very cheap clothing.

Some brands and companies, including Kering, started to make commitments in order to improve both their impact on the planet and the respect of the workers of the industry. “Fair trade” and “Organic cotton” products have become more popular in some countries, for consumers looking for more sustainable ways of consuming.

Some companies use certifications to show their improvement.
At Linda Mai Phung, working ethically is in the brand’s DNA. We are trying to be responsible within our means on every subject. One of those is to work with cooperatives and promote Vietnamese handicraft.
