On May 10, silk, spirits, and sound filled Le Méridien Saigon on the occasion of the Saigon Áo Dài Cocktail Festival 2026, courtesy of Saigon bartenders, designers and musicians.
The event tapped into the elegance and visual language of the áo dài, placed amidst Saigon’s growing cocktail culture. The mood of the event, hosted by Saigon Outcast, evolved throughout the day, with masterclasses and runway shows, DJ sets curated by FTWR, and The Golden Shaker competition, wherein participating bars (Barson, The Enigma Mansion, Summer Experiment, Layla Eatery & Bar, STIR, Modern Classic Cocktails, Savor Cocktail Club, Hybrid Saigon, Raw + Atelier, Mami Cocktails and House of Barbaard) showcased their style and techniques. Hybrid ultimately took first place, with Barson in second and Barbaard in third. Beyond a friendly competition, where audience votes were tabulated via Noshbox, the results reflected the range of Saigon’s contemporary bar scene, where increasingly sophisticated customers seek out unique stories and atmospheres.
The festival also provided educational opportunities through a professionally-led masterclass program. Guests could move from whisky to gin and everything in between thanks to brand representatives from Glenfiddich and The Balvenie, Mathieu Teisseire, Jack Daniel’s, Hendrick’s Gin, Flor de Caña, Về Để Đi, The Studio Saigon, and Ly Gia Vien collaborations with Capfruit and Callebaut.
Fashion gave the festival its visual identity with runway shows placing the áo dài in conversation with contemporary Saigon nightlife, bringing together heritage and personal interpretation. Rather than presenting the áo dài as a remnant of tradition, designers at the event (Richie Fawcett, Chula, More Than Blue, Đinh Bách Đạt, SexyBack and My K.D.V) placed the garment within the city’s contemporary creative scene.
The music program tied the atmosphere together, with DJ sets, runway soundtracks, and live performances, building toward the evening’s Stargazing Records live show and closing sets. Saigon Áo Dài Cocktail Festival accomplished its grand ambition of interweaving drinks, fashion, and music organically.
