Vietnam Renews Visa Waivers for Europeans

In an effort to boost Vietnam’s tourism industry, the government has extended a visa exemption program for citizens from five European countries for another year.

The original directive, signed by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung last year, allows tourists from France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK to stay in Vietnam visa-free for 15 days per entry, reports Thanh Nien.

The decree follows another new policy announced earlier this year that would enable American visitors to get a one-year, multiple-entry visa as the government tries to reverse last year’s statistics, during which time the country saw its lowest number of international arrivals recorded in six years.

The extension will be in effect for one year, ending on June 30, 2017.
