KFC Vietnam Launches Vegan Dishes for Limited Time

KFC introduced vegan options at all locations in Vietnam during the seventh month on the lunar calendar.

KFC's Vietnamese site has the official, possibly surprising, announcement. The vegan options are inspired by familiar dishes suitable for vegetarians.

By replacing the original ingredients with vegetables, which are called "plant-based chicken," KFC is offering customers three choices. The first is a vegetarian "chicken" burger, blended with a grilled mock chicken breast served with fresh tomato, green salad and mayonnaise in a sesame burger.

The second is rice bowl featuring roast Korean seaweed, salad greens and shredded vegan "chicken" with white rice. Finally, there is a mixed salad including cucumber and cherry tomatoes with vegan salad dressing as a side dish.

According to Franchising.vn, KFC is also trialing the dishes in the UK and Ireland this year. If they prove popular, they will be officially added to menus starting in 2019.

As KFC Vietnam noted, the vegan options are only available for a limited time: from July 26 of the Gregorian calendar to the end of the lunar month on the lunar calendar (September 9).
