At Nguyen Van Yen’s bakery in Tan Phu’s District, a 1.9kg version of the sandwich has become one of his most popular items with dozens of orders each day, reports Thanh Nien.

The loaves, each around 70cm long, require 2.5 – 3kg of flour to make, up from 100g used for the typical size.

The ginormous bread will set you back VND70,000, 30 times the price of a normal sized one, both due to the quantity of ingredients and because it takes 65 minutes to bake, compared with 17 minutes normally.

Though you might imagine that baking is the most monumental task in the process, Yen said that the logistics of delivery prove to be the most difficult. His employees carry the bread to customers one by one on their shoulders.

Perhaps an eating contest is in order?
