[Photos] The Shield: Hanoi's 'Machine' House

A group of Hanoian architects rose to the challenge of striking a balance between commercial and residential space in a local tube house.

The 2016 project, named The Shield, combines the owner's living space with his office. Thus, the minds behind Hanoi-based Landmak Architecture had to figure out how to integrate a product showroom and work space into an existing residential abode, reports ArchDaily.

Before renovation, the lot was a commonplace Vietnam house with a set of stairs in the middle, separating two rooms in front and behind. This typical structure was gutted to create space to showcase products; in this case, a range of luxury watches. New decorative elements also make use of the mechanical theme to tie in to the product.
