SE Asia's Tallest Building Planned For Bangkok

While Saigon may soon be home to Vietnam’s highest building, it looks Bangkok is planning construct the tallest in all of SE Asia with its 615m, 125-story, "Rama IX Super Tower," reports the Bangkok Post.

The massive 18 million baht ($550 million) skyscraper, designed by Architects 49 Ltd, was unveiled on Tuesday by real estate developer Grand Canal Land and is scheduled to be completed by 2019.

Part of the $3.7 billion Grand Rama 9 mixed-use development site, the 320,000sqm "Super Tower" (a naming competition will be held in the future) will include 90,000sqm of office space, a 260-room “six-star” hotel, observation tower and rooftop gardens.

If completed, the building would be the third tallest in the world after the Burj Khalifa and the recently topped out Shanghai Tower.
