HSBC: Expats Think Vietnam Is Great

Global banking giant HSBC recently released their annual Expat Explorer survey and it turns out foreign residents of Vietnam are very happy with their adopted home.

The report features a comprehensive look at the lives of foreign residents around the world, ranking the economics, experiences and family life of expats in 39 countries.

Vietnam came in at number 25, putting the country ahead of other Asian nations like China and the Philippines. Japan, Thailand and Malaysia were just slightly ahead of the country, while Singapore took the top spot because of course it did.

By and large, foreign residents had mostly good things to say about Vietnam, citing its low cost of living and local culture as benefits. While the country did well in its overall assessment, Vietnam managed to do even better in terms of economics, clinching the number 21 spot, and experiences, coming in at 22. For family life, however, factors like education for children and healthcare pushed the country down to number 31.

All the same, we're happy to find Vietnam among the most expat-friendly nations in the world, as is Kris Werner, head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management at HSBC.

“Vietnam is developing rapidly and its business environment is dynamic,” Werner told Thanh Nien. “It is an attractive destination for entrepreneurs looking to set up new ventures.”

Nicely done, Vietnam.
