Vietnamese actress Ngo Thanh Van, star of several local blockbusters including Dong Mau Anh Hung, Clash and the forthcoming film Sieu Trom, will be making her Hollywood debut next month.

The 36-year-old actress plays an assassin called Mantis in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, sequel to one of the most successful Chinese-language films of all time, reports Thanh Nien.

Last week, producers of the film released its movie posters, which feature seven individual characters from the film, including Van. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny also stars Donnie Yen, Michelle Yeoh and Harry Shum, Jr.

“It's a small supporting role, so I'm very proud and happy when the producers gave me a character poster,” the action star told Thanh Nien.

The sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is directed by Woo Ping Yuen, who has big shoes to fill after Ang Lee's stunning initial film. Produced by China Film Group and the Weinstein Brothers, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny also has an exclusive deal with Netflix to distribute the film worldwide close to its cinematic release date. The movie will be available on February 18 in Hong Kong and on February 26 in the United States.
